INL4 - Gold Stars Are For Suckers - photos
We had another really good Industry Night Live show last Monday at the Cobalt. There was a keenly receptive and stalwart audience, in spite the snow! Gold Stars Are For Suckers put on one of the best shows to date, and played a lot of new material from their forthcoming EP. Here are a couple stills taken from editing the footage we got on the night. I think everyone would agree that Gold Star's silent member, dancer Voodoo Pixie, was a highlight of the show! It looks and sounds great, very excited to share the next episode. We are just putting the interview together for the final cut as I write.
Of course Hatch Benedict conducted the entire interview in Rich's well worn wrestlers mask, which will be revealed in the final episode. File Gold Stars' under Party Rock.
Thanks to Isabelle Dunlop and Brad Tidswell for their camera work, and of course big thanks to our host Hatch Benedict, who brought a few serious questions to the band on the night, in addition to having them re-enact a portion of their new video "Party Eagle"
Don't miss out next show which features Mr. Darren Paris on bass, the astoundingly funky Dreaded Soul. Monday Dec 16th at the Cobalt. Your $5 donation also gets you a drink ticket. So don't miss it! Click here for the FB event.

Industry Night: Episode One - Japanese Girls
We had a fantastic launch to our new series on Monday night, with an energetic and inspired performance by Japanese Girls and a hilarious interview with Hatch and Cory from Sex With Strangers. The crowd was buzzing after the night and there is a feeling of excitement about the upcoming shows.
Our next show in the series is Monday Oct 28th with musical guests Legs and host Christine McAvoy. There's quite a buzz surrounding this band so we expect another brilliant night down at the Media Club.
After the 28th we are relocating the show to The Cobalt, and will be restarting on Nov 25th with none other than Phoenix Thunderbird! Expect Hatch to be back in the interviewer seat, he did a wonderful job and seemed to enjoy it thoroughly!

Industry @ Media Club
Industry night is just around the corner at the Media Club starting next Monday, October 7th.

Along with Simon there will be two other special guest comedians with DJ's Cory and Co. closing the evening with the best of party tunes to make next Monday a stellar time! Musical guests for the night at Megabear.

The concept is to help illuminate rising local talents of Vancouver, feature some colourful characters from the scene, and have a great dance party to celebrate the night. Each Monday, starting Oct 21st, we will have a guest host interview the night's showcase band before a live audience with a succinct set from the featured act, all to be followed by special guest DJ's to make a full evening of music, dancing and fun. The fine people of Vandocument.com have also offered to be our camera crew for this night, so the video's should be world class too!
To top things off it seems we are fortunate enough to have our night sponsored by none other than Jack Daniels, just to make sure the rock and roll maintains its full bodied flavour! ($3.50 JD shot anyone?)
The first interview/showcase will be Japanese Girls on Oct 21st. Before that night we will be having a few dance nights just to introduce the music to a new audience, and establish the vibe. Come join us next Monday, Sept 23rd, for a truly affordable night out with great music in a cool space.
Stay tuned for more announcements about Novembers acts!

Fashion Underwater
Last week, the imaginative and artistic Dale Darlington put together the most creative photoshoot we've been a part of to date. Capturing Isabelle Dunlop's latest fashions from under water was his concept and quite honestly the results are both beautiful and exciting. The way distorts and diffracts, the fabric floats and pulls, the weightlessness of the models and unusual angles all make for a wonderful image. Have a look at the photos below and see if you don't agree. I think a few would make great album cover art too! Congratulations to Dale and Isabelle for such a successful creative collaboration.

Asylum - A Short Film by Vince Tuckwood
In addition to writing novels, composing and performing music, Vince Tuckwood is turning his talents to film making this year. He has an inventive story that involves a twist on the haunted house story that he's written and now is looking to produce into a short film.
Vince has published four novels to date, his last book "Escalation" was published in partnership with Boutique Empire. He has reworked his Family Rules novel into a screenplay (Inventing Kenny) and now looks forward to seeing his vision for Asylum captured for the screen.
The synopsis:
Sol plans to spend the night in an abandoned asylum with his three friends, and face up to its ghost of local rumor. Though skeptical, Sol seems ready to make sure his friends stay safe. At the first sign of the trouble, however, his friends flee, and Sol stands alone in facing the ghost.
And in an unexpected twist, it may just be the ghost that’s most affected by the confrontation.
Funding for the picture is very modest, the film is looking for only $5000 in backing funds. If you have any interest in this side of the arts please have a look at his kickstarter and consider backing it.
Thanks for reading, now go check it out!
