Headlong Hearts "Creatures of Habit" out July 1st 2025 on all streaming sites. 

The second full length from Vancouver, Canada's Headlong Hearts is a big shift forward in their sound. Growing on the strengths of their debut, What We Call Forever, Creatures of Habit puts the band in a fuller, faster style. With songs like One Golden Day, Canadian Shield, and Canada all pushing the tempos more like a folk rock band, Headlong Hearts is demonstrating what they've learned from playing live for the past decade. More aggressive, more dramatic, but still retaining the sense of beauty from their beginnings, the band is having fun with their sound. 

Creatures of Habit is an eleven song, all original, album that features another wood cut cover art by the band's drummer Matt Brain. No only is Matt a great drummer, but he's also a wonderful artist as well.

We are pleased to announce the release of Colin Goldie's album "Random Notes". Colin is a well known folk musician that has been a part of the West Coast Blue Grass and Folk scene for over forty years! Produced by Mark Henning and recorded at the Boutique Empire studio in East Vancouver, Random Notes features several members of  Headlong Hearts (known in this instance as Granite Mansion) as well as vocals from Kate Main (Murfitt and Main) and Isabelle Dunlop (Combine the Victorious) and instrumentalists Tom Hammell, Cindy Fairbank, Brian Samuels and Paul Pigat. 

A 12 song collection of tunes all written by Colin Goldie over the past decades and brought together for this album. It includes his crowd pleasing favourite tune "Come Closer to Me" as well as the spiritual-inspired "Drowned In Deep Waters" and the heartfelt "How."

 Headlong Hearts has released their new single "Canadian Shield" this month a year after their debut album What We Call Forever was released. 

Canadian Shield is a uniquely Canadian song as it described the long drives we all take across our vast nation and the potential shortcomings of making such a road trip with an incompatible passenger!

New live Recording from Headlong Hearts - Canadian Shield

 Back on October first Headlong Hearts held their album release party for "What We Call Forever" at Hipposonic Studio here in Vancouver, Canada. The show was a great success, sold out and warmly received and the band made an audio recording of the night. I have been going through the songs and picking the best tracks for the night and mixing the multitrack audio we recorded that evening. 

This song, Canadian Shield, is not available on the debut album and is likely to be the first new single Headlong Hearts records for the next release. Fiddler Hugh Ellenwood wrote this one and the band as quickly adopted it into their live sets as it has proven to be a crowd pleaser. I hope you find it fun as well!

Introducing Headlong Hearts - Down in History (live @Havana)

The band once known as Farmteam is no more. They are now called Headlong Hearts. Still consisting of Matt Kennedy, Brad Gillard, Hugh Ellenwood, Matt Brain and Mark Henning, Headlong Hearts are about to begin releasing their new music to the world! The fist stage consists of a three song video trilogy filmed live at the Havana Theatre on January 30th 2022. Below is the first video: Down In History.
