 For the past few weeks I've been posting old live videos of my 90's band Pure. It's been quite a lot of fun to re-experience those days from more than 30 years ago.

Here's a few of the full song clips I've cleaned up so far.

 

 Special thanks to Dan Maynard for not only videoing all these shows while doing lights for the band, but even finding a working camera for us to transfer the old tapes from. It's great looking back at these days!

Summer Canadian Tour!

Combine the Victorious are performing a series of shows this coming August in western Canada.

The first of these shows being in Squamish, British Columbia at Trickster's Hideout with friends Zombie Roof , August 9th. 

Then to Manitoba to perform in Gimli, Manitoba at the Ship and Plough. August 15th. 

Then a house concert in Winnipeg Friday August 16th. 

Finally in Brandon, Manitoba on the Saturday August 17th at the Monkeyhouse IIII, a secret party venue in the city. 

Introducing Headlong Hearts - Down in History (live @Havana)

The band once known as Farmteam is no more. They are now called Headlong Hearts. Still consisting of Matt Kennedy, Brad Gillard, Hugh Ellenwood, Matt Brain and Mark Henning, Headlong Hearts are about to begin releasing their new music to the world! The fist stage consists of a three song video trilogy filmed live at the Havana Theatre on January 30th 2022. Below is the first video: Down In History.

Rat Silo - Oh, Fuck Off Tony (LIve)

Rat Silo performed at the Anza Club this past Thursday, Nov 29th, 2018.  "Oh Fuck Off Tony" was the closing song to their set and we filmed it for fun.

Several years back I produced Rat Silo's debut album "What The Butler Saw" and then two years after that I mixed the follow up "Doubleplusungood".

The song in this video, "Oh, Fuck Off Tony" was always a favorite of mine from that album so it was no surprise that this song was a highlight of their set the other evening.

The members of Rat Silo are from several legendary Canadian bands. Singer, guitarist Jim Newton and bassist Don Binns were in the seminal rock band Sons of Freedom, drummer Sean Stubbs has performed in countless groups including Gorilla Gorilla, Chrome Dog and Numb, while electronics are provided by Erkan Gencol.

New Band - The Charm Offensive (live)

The Charm Offensive, a brand new band featuring Hatch Benedict (front man of Sex With Strangers) and Trish Kelly, performed their debut show earlier this autumn at The Fox Cabaret.  The band has just released their first EP - Polite Mouth/Honest Hands which available on iTunes, Spotify and all other streaming sites.

In the clip below the band is joined by two additional backing vocalists (The Bow-ties) for the song Alternative Facts.

Momento - Sex With Strangers' New Video

It is with great pride that we present the brand new, live off the floor, video of Sex With Strangers single "Momento'.   We shot this clip a couple weekends back at the rather bizarrely horror movie themed Sanctuary Rehearsal studios in East Vancouver.  Everybody showed up and killed it.  Lead singer Hatch Benedict is in top form, and I think this is the first time I've seen his live-show energy captured on camera.  But I suppose that is because it is live!

The Pop Drops at Isabelle Dunlop Clothing

We had our Boutique Empire xmas party last December and have just gotten around to editing together the footage from that night.  We shall soon be revealing the live performance of The Population Drops at Isabelle Dunlop Clothing.

Titled "Dark Matters" after the artist Jean Vercoe's series of the same name, we shall soon be airing the mini documentary of Mr. Vercoe's artwork as well as a five song set by The Population Drops.

 

It was a great party and the shop was filled by the band's music.

Weds Mar 26 Combine the Victorious at Backstage Lounge

In preparation of a Scottish appearance this summer, Combine the Victorious will be performing as a duo this Wednesday at the Granville Island Backstage Lounge.  They are debuting two new songs, as well as new arrangements for other current favorites. 


Opening the night's musical entertainment will be The Salvos, and then the debut of The Vaporettos at approximately 10PM.  Combine the Victorious will be on stage just after 11PM.

It promises to be a night of quality.  You should come.

Sneak Peak: INL6 - Fake Shark Real Zombie

We had a great time filming this episode the night before new year's eve at the Cobalt.  After constructing the new Isabelle Dunlop Clothing store in January and then catching up on all the work backlogged we're only now getting to edit the Industry Night Live together.  It's going to be our best yet, just check out this clip from the show.  The band was energetic and entertaining, and the crowd was there to have a party!

INL5-Dreaded Soul

Industry Night Live episode five featuring musical guests Dreaded Soul and host Benn McGuire.  Recorded live, December 16th, 2013, at the Cobalt Cabaret, Vancouver, Canada.

Dreaded Soul, a new funk/soul group featuring a star studded cast of musicians under the wings of Tim Fuller and Darren Parris, played a stunning showcase last week.  They discussed their past, their influences and a little bit about China before performing a stunning set in front of the live audience at the Cobalt.

Industry Night Ep3: Phoenix Thunderbird

Industry Night Live (Episode 3) featuring musical guests Phoenix Thunderbird with host Hatch Benedict.

The band performed a blistering showcase last week on November 25th at the Cobalt Cabaret.  In this episode Hatch explores the roots of Phoenix Thunderbird's sound, and discovers not one of them watched the Cosby show back in the 80's.  In addition to segments from the live set, they also perform their song "Idle Thoughts" at the 4 minute mark.  A very fun night and certainly our best video to date.
