Rob Edmonds paints We Are Local Pop Up

The illustrious Robert Edmonds has just painted the front window of the We Are Local pop up shop on Main Street here in Vancouver.  He is the first of six local artists that will be designing the front window display to the store, a new one each week.  Today he was putting the finishing touches on the window, a transfer of one of his "Day At the Races" series, made life sized on glass.

It will only be up for one week so please make a note to look up at 2539 Main St (Main and 10th), the site of the Whoa!  Nellie Bike Shop (who have graciously provided the space and temporarily moved upstairs).

The We Are Local pop up shop will feature gift boxes that will contain items from over 60 local businesses, apparently there will packages available for guys, gals, grey sky days, hipsters and more.  Drop in and find out more.

There will be an exhibit in the autumn at Walrus (on Cambie at 18th) here in Vancouver, where all five  will be displayed.   Acrylic paint on canvas (sizes are approx. three foot by four foot).   More information to follow.

The shop now has two original painting adorning its walls.  The first is an abstract by Jordy Birch titled "The Meek Won't Want It" (acrylic on canvas, 4'x6' - pictured above) the second is the Robert Edmonds (80x60 acrylic on canvas - formal title still to be determined).

New video from Sex With Strangers- We Want the Fire

Yes that's right, the wonderful people who brought you "New City Anthem" - BKS-Crew productions - have made a follow up to that video with the brand new Sex With Strangers' clip "We Want the Fire."  Of great import we must add that the artist behind every Boutique Empire release, Mr. Robert Edmonds, has a starring role in this video.  Not only is he acting as the "Creator" within the clip but he conceptualized the artwork, then scaled it to fit a 40' wide canvas and painted around the SWS band members.  Each band member had to lie on the cold concrete for nearly three full hours - no simple feat - all the while trying to remain still for the time lapse images being taken while everything happened around them.

Please have a look, rate it, comment on it, and share it with your friends if you enjoy it.

There is also a new remix EP to coincide with the release of the video.  We Want the Fire - Night Versions, available on boutiqueempire.bandcamp.com right now.
